Entry Bell: 8:25 am
Period 1: 8:25-9:25 am
Period 2: 9:25-10:05 am
First Nutrition Break: 10:05-10:45 am
Period 3: 10:45-11:35 am
Period 4: 11:35-12:25 pm
Second Nutrition Break: 12:25-1:15 pm
Period 5: 1:15-2:15 pm
Period 6: 2:15-2:55 pm
Dismissal: 2:55 pm (Kindergarten 2:45)
End of day supervision ends at 3:10 pm

Entry & Dismissal

Note: Breakfast Club is open to all students - served Mon. to Fri. from 8:00 to 8:20 am in the school's west hallway by the library - volunteers always needed - see Volunteer Info

8:25 am - Purple Room students should meet in the North Kindergarten pen. Yellow, Red, Blue and Green Room students should meet in the West Kindergarten pen. All Gr. 1 to Gr. 6 students should meet on the blacktop in your designated area. Gr. 1 and 2 enter through Door #10 and Gr. 3 to 6 enter through Door #8.

2:45 pm - Yellow, Red, Blue and Green Rooms are dismissed from the West Kindergarten pen. Purple Room is dismissed from their classroom - Door #18.

2:55 pm - Gr. 1 and 2 students are dismissed from Door #10 and Gr. 3 to 6 students are dismissed through Door #8.

Note: Students taking the bus and students in the YMCA or other aftercare programs are dismissed as instructed to parents/guardians.

Mohawk Gardens Public School is a Kindergarten to Grade 6 school in southeast Burlington, Ontario and we celebrated our 50th Anniversary in 2018. Our school colours are blue and orange and our mascot is a mustang.

  • Legacy Bricks for our Outdoor Learning Garden are still available for sale to anyone (community can buy too!) through School Cash Online and forms can be submitted to the office by Dec. 21, 2018. Bricks will be installed in Spring 2019.
  • Spirit Wear will be delivered in December. Bring in your school spirit photos for our bulletin board featuring our Spirit Project.
  • Gr. 1 students who would like to attend French Immersion program at Pineland for Gr. 2 need to apply by January 31, 2019.
  • Our MG Neighbourhood Play Group will continue regular after school outside meetups in the Spring but join our Facebook group to hear about fun winter meetups.
  • Ready to volunteer? Please submit your police check or annual offence declaration form - see Volunteer Info.
  • Do you have the apps? SchoolMessenger (new this year - replaces SchoolConnects) is used for Absence/Late Reporting and to see messages from the school. The HDSB mobile app (new last year) is primarily used to view the website news and calendar from the school and HDSB.
  • Our Lost & Found bin items have been donated this month. Label your stuff! Remember that you can support Mohawk Gardens with your purchase by using our ongoing label campaigns from Mabel’s Labels and Oliver’s Labels.

  • Mohawk Gardens loves cookies! Thank you for another successful Terra Cotta Cookie Fundraiser and for returning your forms on Nov. 19th - $3,000 was raised for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) resources and cookies were delivered on Dec. 5th.
  • Thank you to everyone who supported our Drummond Farms Fall Fundraiser in October - over $1,000 was raised for our nutrition programs!
  • Big thanks for supporting the Indigo Adopt a School program from Sept. 15th to Oct. 7th - over $7,000 was raised for our school's library collection!
  • Thank you for supporting Gift of Giving Back from Oct. 20th to Nov. 6th - we donated 1,522 lbs of food!

  • Enchanted Forest Book Fair Our annual December Scholastic Book Fair has arrived and will be open on Monday, December 4th for viewing only by students (to make their wish lists) and then buying after school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45 to 3:45 pm. On Wednesday, December 5th, we will remain open until 8 pm for families to shop during the Community Craft Night. See the Featured Books Selection.

  • Join the Joy Tree Decorating Mohawk Gardens Public School was invited to participate in the annual Join the Joy campaign at Joseph Brant Hospital on Sunday, December 2nd from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm open to the public to attend. Our students decorated four donated trees to be auctioned off at the hospital during their special event: a Christmas in the Woods tree by Gr. 1-1, 1-2 and 1-3 (Mrs. Brandreth, Mrs. Walker and Ms. Maheu), a Winter Fun tree by Gr. 2/3 (Miss Raspopov), a Peace and Love tree by Gr. 3/4 (Mrs. Howard), and a 50th Anniversary Celebration tree using recycled decorations from our school's 50th reunion (School Council & MG Neighbourhood Play Group).   • Community Craft Night Families are invited to our school's annual Community Craft Night on Wednesday, December 5th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm organized and hosted by the staff at Mohawk Gardens. Register your family name and number of attendees on the Google form that closes Dec. 4th. There will be a cookie decorating station (gluten-free cookies available upon request) and various holiday craft stations and you can also visit our Scholastic Book Fair in the library that evening. School Council will also be on hand distributing Terra Cotta Cookie Fundraiser orders (from 2:45 to 6:45 pm) and offering complimentary hot chocolate and some treats for sale. It will be a fun and busy evening!

  • Terra Cotta Cookie Fundraiser Cookies are back! We are pleased to announce that our annual cookie dough drop fundraiser is in full swing. The holiday season is around the corner and Terra Cotta Cookies are always a hit as gifts! A portion of each and every sales goes back to the school to support our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) resources used by all of our students. This is an important fundraiser as proceeds will also help our school's computer lab transform into a maker space, complete with coding programs, robots, loose parts and more! Learn more about STEAM in education.Each box contains 40 frozen dough drops already portioned for baking for only $13.00!   • Author Sigmund Brouwer visits Nov. 12th It's Rock & Roll time! On Monday, November 12th, our students in Gr. 3 to Gr. 6 will be treated to a visit by Sigmund Brouwer, award-winning author of the Rock & Roll books and creator of the Rock & Roll Literacy program. Sigmund's popular series include the Howling Timberwolves, Justine McKeen, Orca Sports and Robot Wars - watch his introductory video and learn more about his Story Ninja program. What makes success in third grade so significant? It's the year that students move from learning to reading to learn."

Nutrition Program Appreciation

Mohawk Gardens offers a daily breakfast program and a weekly snack program thanks to grants provided by Halton Food for Thought and President's Choice Children's Charity. We also receive regular food donations from St. Elizabeth's Anglican Church and May Court Club of Oakville. We are very grateful for the volunteer support we receive from Cargill Canada, RBC and the Rotary Club of Burlington. Special thanks to IKEA Canada for visiting our breakfast program with a donation of reusable food bags and for donating several sets of plates, bowls and cutlery for our nutrition program.
