Founded in Burlington, Ontario in 2005, The Gift of Giving Back is now the largest food drive in Canada that supports, educates and empowers children to compassionately give back to their community (kids feeding kids!). An annual initiative that strengthens the community, more than 1.3 million lbs. of food has been donated to families in need. That is the accumulative donation of $2.6 million.

Mohawk Gardens will be participating in this wonderful community event again this year. Our collection timeline starts Wednesday October 23rd and ends Tuesday November 5thOur grade 6 Food Drive Team members will help collect donations from classrooms on a daily basis, they will track and record the amount of non-perishable items our students bring in, and they will help deliver and sort our school’s donations on November 6th at Robert Bateman High School. Mohawk Gardens is 51 years old this year so it is our school goal to collect and donate at least 510 non-perishable items - wouldn’t it be great if we can achieve this amount, and hopefully more! We greatly appreciate any items that you are able to contribute to this cause! Let’s “Give the Gift, and Give Back” Mohawk Gardens!!! The class who donates the most items wins an extra recess!

Please take a look at the following donation list for items that are needed - don’t forget to check the expiry date too.  Please make sure your donated goods expire in more than 6 months from now.
