Amanda Huxley Plaque
MGPS Butterfly Garden
On the last day of school following our awards assembly, Mrs. Martino invited family and friends of Amanda Huxley to the outdoor learning garden behind the gym for a special dedication ceremony. As we revealed the newly installed brick pathway with our engraved legacy bricks, Mrs. Martino thanked us for coming together as a community to remember Amanda and recognize her contributions to our school with a special butterfly garden planted in her memory. Our Kindergarten classes have been learning about butterflies and recently released some around the school. Many cultures and religions around the world believe that the butterfly symbolizes rebirth, "representing endurance, change, hope and life." Miss Goodish handed out butterfly clips and purple bubble wands to the group and we all enjoyed the moment as bubbles floated through the air on a beautiful sunny day. Thank you to former MG staff, Ms. Etmanski, Mrs. Longden and Mrs. Williams for attending the dedication, along with some MG alumni. Special thanks to the Huxley family and see you at our next Purple Kindness Day.
